Cloud Computing

It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little.  Do what you can. (Sydney Smith in Touchstones, 9 April)

I'm interested in Cloud Computing.  I've signed up for accounts on:
  • Google Drive
  • SkyDrive
  • Box.net
  • Minus
  • Dropbox
  • Amazon Cloud
I created YouTube playlists for a number of the Cloud Computing applications.

Here's one more link to a playlist about Windows 7 Backup.

Self-Centeredness

Self-centeredness causes us to take everything personally.  We are hypersensitive to our surroundings, to other people, and to how they react. (after Touchstones, 12 January)

I installed Dropbox to see if I would like to use it for doing some file backups.  They give each "free" account, 2Gb of space.  It's attractive because all you need to do to backup a file is drag and drop it into the Dropbox folder on your computer.

What The Answer Might Be

Suddenly I realized what the answer might be. My basic flaw had always been dependence on people or circumstances to supply me with prestige, security, and confidence. Failing to get these things according to my perfectionist dreams and specifications, I fought for them. And when defeat came, so did my depression. (As Bill Sees It, p. 63)

I reviewed how Skydrive works. It's simple enough. This is 25Gb of free storage from Windows Live. I uploaded my various comma-separated-value (CSV) files and then downloaded one to make sure it works.

I went for a neighborhood walk yesterday. I stopped for quite a while to talk with one of the neighbor ladies who lives on the Garrison Road cul de sac. She wasn't aware of the recent daylight break-ins. I wasn't surprised. I stopped to talk because I had a hunch she wouldn't know about it.
