Growth
The essence of all growth is a willingness to change for the better and then an unremitting willingness to shoulder whatever responsibility this entails.

Growth and Self-Awareness
Everyone has the capacity for growth, and for self-awareness through an honest encounter with reality. When we don't avoid issues but meet them directly, always trying to resolve them, they become fewer and fewer.

Once Upon A Time
I can begin my record of growth and goals, and dreams, and all my feelings. I can be the author of the book of my life.

Be On Guard
Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one's life does not consist in the abundance of possessions.
(Luke 12:15) in Three Minutes A Day, Vol. 44, by The Christophers)
Letting go of what I do not truly need - whether it be old thoughts, things, or behaviors - makes room for new growth in my life.

Growth
... growth is related directly to our success in looking at and releasing our history. Like barnacles on a ship's hull, our past wrongdoings can prevent us from sailing smoothly to a life fulfilled with peace.

Whose Fault Is It?
We blame little things in others and pass over great things in ourselves, we are quick enough perceiving and weighing what we suffer from others, but we mind not what others suffer from us.
(Thomas 'a Kempis in One Day At A Time In Al-Anon, 9 May)
Instead of complaining about our struggles, we should see them as opportunities for growth. Thank God for promising to be with you in rough times. Ask Him to help you solve your problems or to give you the strength to endure them. Then be patient. God will stay close and help you grow.

Change
What people resist about change is being changed. They want to be enticed and supported, but not forced. They like to think that changes in their behavior are born of their own motivation to be better people, and they want to take credit for their own growth. They don't want to be made to change; they want to make the change themselves and they want to think it was their idea.

Growth
All that I know now is partial and incomplete.

What, specifically,
could you do right now to grow in
knowledge and understanding?

Experimenting
Change and growth take place when a person has risked himself and dares to become involved with experimenting with his own life. (Herbert Otto, Touchstones, 29 July) 6 August 2012

Growth
Some people turn away from growth because they refuse to tolerate the pain of honest hindsight. (Touchstones, 18 March)
If you say you want to grow but make no steps to make it happen, it probably will not happen. (Iyanla Vanzant, Until Today! 26 March)
People who fear responsibility sometimes use a lifestyle of chaos to help them avoid responsibility -- and to block out their fear of it. (Craig Nakken, Finding Your Moral Compass, p. 85)
People learn by example, and you are a living example. (Iyanla Vanzant, Until Today! 30 April)
Persistance is necessary if you are to advance in spiritual things. (Twenty-Four Hours A Day, 18 March)

Serious Times
Whatever you do takes time, and yet it is always now. (Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth, p. 266)
In any realm of life success depends on obedience to the word of the expert. (William Barclay, The Letter to the Hebrews, p. 34)
No Man Need Stay The Way He Is, (Title of a Fosdick sermon in The Letters To Timothy by William Barclay, p. 251)
Each of us must make our way through these serious times, carefully ordering our priorities and doing what we need to do to safeguard our spiritual growth. (Casey and Vanceburg, The Promise Of A New Day, 6 August)

Yesterday I spent the afternoon in Bowie, MD. I attended the computer club meeting at the Senior Center. I assisted with setting up and breaking down the room. Florence brought her desktop computer running Windows XP. We connected the computer to the projector. She needed some help with with the use of her floppy and CD drives. The computer was quite slow even when it was hard wired to the Internet. After the meeting Bob B. made several changes in an attempt to eliminate the problems.
After the club meeting I went to the libraries in Bowie and Crofton to return books and CDs. I checked out ten more CDs from Crofton. I selected several CDs by country artists who are new to me.
This is my second day using the new Blogger editor. I like it so far. The Label entry works better and the formatting commands are better. The Preview displays how the page will actually look. Overall I give them a "thumbs up."
