Gratitude

Gratitude

When you feel grateful for something others have done for you, why not tell them about it?

Gratitude

Melva with some tomatoes from our backyard.

I am very grateful to be exactly where I am today. I do not need to be a victim of my past or controlled by circumstances.
(Ruth Fishel, Time For Joy, 5 July)

This past week I neglected blogging for several days.  I also missed a day or to of daily reading. Recently I added several books to the stack of books that I read from each day.  I'm looking forward to the challenge of reading for a few more minutes each morning.

I've been working on some genealogy projects that are time consuming.

Each Day

Mr. Dickie in Annapolis, MD

It is natural to be grateful for your life, and to look forward to each day.

Grace and Gratitude

Grace and gratitude belong together like heaven and earth.
Grace evokes gratitude like the voice an echo.
Gratitude follows grace as thunder follows lightning.

Where Are You Going?

There are basically two kinds of people in the world:

  • those who are growing personally and
  • those who are going nowhere and stagnating.
(Cloud and Townsend, God Will Make A Way, p. 33)

What is your intuition telling you right now?
(John C. Maxwell, Leadership, 17 July)

Develop an attitude of gratitude for all that manifests into your life.
Be thankful and filled with awe and appreciation, even if what you desire hasn't arrived yet.
Even the darkest days of your life are to be looked on with gratitude.

Thanksgiving

Gratitude is the inward feeling of kindness received.
Thankfulness is the natural impulse to express that feeling.
Thanksgiving is the following of that impulse.

What's The Good Of It?

"What new and good things happened to you today?"
Putting some gratitude in your attitude can help calm your inner worrywart.

Words

What a privilege it is to speak words of life, to bless those we love. There are so many ways we can show our gratitude for them and for God, who made them part of our lives. One of those ways is to speak gracious words at appropriate times.

What words of blessing would God have you say ... [today]?

Travails and Tribulations

In a world where somebody may at any moment, rain on your parade; where if something can go wrong it is likely to; where you may, at any corner, be driven up the wall; in this kind of world gratitude comes to us in spite of travails and tribulations. Generosity

To cultivate the quality of generosity in your life, do the following:

  1. Be grateful for whatever you have.
  2. Put people first.
  3. Don't allow the desire for possessions to control you.
  4. See money as a resource.
  5. Develop the habit of giving.

The only way to maintain an attitude of generosity is to make it your habit to give:

  • your time
  • attention
  • money
  • resources.

(John C. Maxwell, Leadership, 21 January)

I'm making good progress on the project to learn how to use my new FreePages account on RootsWeb. Yesterday I modified the HTML that I use at the top and bottom of each webpage to bring it up-to-date and make it work with FreePages URLs.  The next step is to select an old file that I want to share, make the necessary modifications and upload it to my FreePages.  Stay tuned for further progress reports.

Home Improvement

A spirit of gratitude and praise change the way you look at life. (The One-Year Mini For Men, 28 July)

******

Yesterday it was cool enough to get in a 45-minute walk in the neighborhood. I stopped twice to visit with neighbors. There was a huge orange 'clean-up" citation on the front door of the rental house where all of the mattresses and other furniture sits at the curb.

We were very surprised to discover that the green chain-link fence, at the house on the corner and across the street, had been removed during the day. Rick also trimmed dead branches from the three trees in the front yard. After thirty-two years this is a big change and very welcome improvement. We remain hopeful that the rusty chain-link eye-sore directly across from us will one day disappear as well.

Gratitude

I have much more to be grateful for than I realize. Too often I don't remember to give thought to all the things in my life that I could enjoy and appreciate. (One Day At A time In Al-Anon, 5 May)
