Choices

Whatever you love most be it sport[s], pleasure, business, [alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, sex, money, your stuff] or God, that is your god.
(Billy Graham, altered by Richard E. Henthorn, in 100 Days Of Prayer For Women, p. 37)

Priorities

Maybe you will have to readjust your priorities.  Maybe you will have to say "no" to certain activities or demands.  Whatever it takes, make time to be alone with God.  (Billy Graham, Hope For Each Day, 18 October) 14 November 2011

Audacity

... bad decisions always result in bad consequences. (Billy Graham, Hope For Each Day, 25 June)

******

Last night I achieved my first result recording twenty minutes of music from a cassette tape using the program Audacity. The program has lots of controls, so there is lots to learn. I saved the recording in the Audacity format and the WAV format. I didn't record the second side of the tape and I didn't attempt to break each track out into a separate file. Copying music in this manner is a very time consuming process.

Hard Drive Conversion to USB

No person in the world ever attempted to wrong another without being injured in return - some way, somehow, sometime. (William George Jordan in The Promise Of A New Day by Casey and Vanceburg, 4 January)

When we do not learn from the past or hear God and obey Him in the present, we destroy our future. (Warren W. Wiersbe, Chapter-by-Chapter Bible Commentary, p. 513)

Many people feel caught up in the routines of daily living that seem to deprive their life of significance. (Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth, p. 257)

... bad decisions always result in bad consequences. (Billy Graham, Hope For Each Day, 25 June)

Yesterday I installed the hard drive from my old Dell laptop in an external drive case that I bought at a computer store. The USB cable allowed me to connect the drive to my new laptop and thus read the drive again. I'm having fun looking at all the genealogy PDFs I found on this drive. I don't remember how many of these reports I made available in the past. If you have access to my Box.net account watch to see what I make available.

Enough Is Enough!

"For us all, the world is disordered, and apparently ungovernable." (Anonymous columnist in Hope For Each Day by Billy Graham, 22 April)

... life on earth grows more involved with endless problems that can't be solved. (Helen Steiner Rice, A Collection Of Blessings, p. 122)

The things for which there is no control, what choice is left but acceptance? (Mike Magee, M.D., The Book Of Choices, p. 238)

We have not learned that a nation is more powerful when it unites in earnest prayer to God than when it's resources are channeled into weapons. (Billy Graham, Hope For Each Day, 22 March)

The entire country needs a major renovation, both physically and spiritually. (after Steve Case in Everything Counts, 15 April)

Acceptance of prevailing standards often means we have no standards of our own. (Jean Toomer in Black Pearls by Eric V. Copage, 19 April)

If fifty millon people say a foolish thing, it is still a foolish thing. (Anatole France in The Book Of Choices by Mike Magee, M.D., p. 230)

It is no use saying, "we are doing our best." You have got to succeed in doing what is necessary. (Sir Winston Churchill in The Book Of Choices by Mike Magee, M.D., p. 163)

There are times, when simply, enough is enough. When we have worked hard enough, waited long enough ... [put up with the situation long enough.] (Eric V. Copage, Black Pearls, 18 April)

I don't like money actually, but it quiets my nerves. (Joe Louis in The Book Of Choices by Mike Magee, M.D., p. 51)

How tragic that so many people waste time, energy and money on things that amount to little or nothing. (Warren W. Wiersbe, Chapter-By-Chapter Bible Commentary, p 388)

If a person gets his attitude toward money right, it will help straighten out almost every other area of his life. (Billy Graham, Hope For each Day, 6 March)

Democracy

... no democracy can ever be better than the people who make it up.
When citizens are selfishly motivated, the government will be inequitable.
When people are dishonest, the government will be the same.
When everyone wants his own way, someone is going to get hurt.

Our Basic Problems

We have not learned that a nation is more powerful when it unites in earnest prayer to God than when its resources are channeled into weapons. ... Weapons by themselves will not keep us safe or solve the world's problems. Our basic problems are spiritual in nature, and only spiritual solutions will solve them. (Billy Graham, Hope For Each Day, 22 March)

I'm still trying to understand how a RootsWeb website works. Once I got past the problem of how to gain access the next stumbling block was understanding how the folder (directory) naming conventions work. I was reminded that it's best to use all lowercase letters and to avoid spaces and special characters. Yesterday I renamed some of the folders I created and some of the files within the folders. I also had to move my folders to be subordinate to one called "public_html." Then things started to fall into place and work. I was even able to install a clickable "X" button on the homepage that will take the visitor to an already existing "introductory" page. It's an interesting mental challenge to figure out how this stuff works. I consider myself to be a rank amateur when it comes to HTML. That's why anything I am able to accomplish must be simple, so it can be understood by myself and others. When a website is maintained by volunteers I think it is very important to keep it simple. Otherwise there is a strong possibility that the expert webmaster will drop out and the group will be left with a website that they can't maintain unless they hire professional help. Not a good situation.
