Respect For Self
I have often wondered how it is that every man loves himself more than all the rest of men, but yet sets less value on his own opinion than on the opinion of others. For if a god or a wise teacher should present himself to a man and bid him to think of nothing and to design nothing which he would not express as soon as he conceived it, he could not endure it even for a single day. So much more respect have we for what our neighbors think of us than for what we think of ourselves.

Changing Your Opinion
Mr. Dickie
Reading the words
of
The Chief of Naval Operations
Admiral Jonathan W. Greenert
Before the Navy Band Concert
Remember that to change your opinion and to follow him who corrects your error is not a surrender of freedom. Your action follows your own judgement and understanding and keeps the course your mind has set.
(Marcus Aurelius, Meditation, Chapter VII, 16)

Last night, 7 October 2014, Cyndi and I took the subway to the Music Center at Strathmore in Bethesda, MD where we attended a "free" 80-minute concert by The United States Navy Band. The concert entitled, America's Navy - On The Sea And Beyond, celebrated the Navy's 239th Birthday and the 200th Birthday of the Star-Spangled Banner. The program featured three of the six ensembles that make up the Navy Band: Concert Band, Sea Chanters and Cruisers. We selected our own seats near the back and on the aisle on the 800-seat orchestra level. There was a full house.
I thought the program was wonderful. I particularly enjoyed the first solo vocal of the Josh Groban song, Brave and the duet, near the end, of the Bill Withers song, Lean On Me.
This was our first visit to the Music Center which is a beautiful building with wonderful acoustics. It's across the street from a Red line Metro stop and a Metro parking garage. The second level of the parking garage is connected to the Music Center by a fly-over. The Center is the second home of The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
We took photos prior to the performance using Cyndi's camera.

Truth
Photo: Cana Lilies are blooming in the front yard
Opinion is a flitting thing,
But Truth outlasts the Sun --
If then we cannot own them both --
Possess the oldest one --.

Opinion
There is no doubt about it: in this free country it is your constitutional right to refuse to think at all if you want to. You can sit back and stay "safely" with the majority, maybe even smugly, while berating those who voice unpopular minority opinions. But the world will be improved only by those who are willing to follow their own consciences, even when it is unpopular to do so. (Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, The Sky's The Limit, p. 83) 6 February 2013

Google Drive
Everything that exists in the world, does so independent of your opinion about it. (Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, Pulling Your Own Strings, p. 183)

On 24 April 2012 Google Drive cloud storage was released by Google. Each account is given 5Gb of cloud storage. The Google Drive replaces the application I was using which was called, Google Docs.
Today I'm posting links to YouTube videos and Internet articles which provide information and opinions about the new application.

Allegiance
Many people have been sent off to die in stupid wars because it was "the right thing to do," even though both sides end up shaking their heads when the whole thing is over. People often believe that allegiance to a country, a team, a school, or whatever, is always right, and that having a contrary opinion is definitely wrong. (Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, Pulling Your Own Strings, p. 191) 17 April 2012

In My Opinion
If a friend is in trouble, don't annoy him by asking if there is anything you can do. Think up something appropriate and do it. (Edgar Watson Howe in The Book Of Choices by Mike Magee, M.D., p. 146)

I spent a good deal of time yesterday working on my project to seize control of the management of our money from banks that are no longer serving our best interests. It's shocking how much time I'm spending on these projects. I'm trying to keep in mind that the effort will reap long-term benefits.
All of the contradictory talk coming out of Washington continues to be very upsetting. It's becoming more and more evident that our failure to insist that the members of Congress and the Administration carry out the duties they were elected to perform is now coming home to roost.
In my opinion it's time to:
- provide affordable health care to everyone,
- more tightly regulate health care, banking, real estate and stock market business,
- revamp tax law,
- install term limits,
- eliminate earmarks,
- give the President the line-item veto
- insist that no wars be started unless debated and approved in Congress.
