The Art of Life
The art of life is to live in the present moment and to make that moment as perfect as we can by the realization that we are the instruments and expression of God himself.
(Whispers Of Blessing, Day 48)
For the present is the only thing a man can lose, if it is true that it is the only thing he has, and that a man cannot lose a thing which he has not.

Life Is A Challenge
Life is a challenge. If you think life is smooth and it's perfect, you are wrong or you are delusional.
(Anastasia Soare in Hero by Rhonda Byrne, p. 157)
What a profound challenge! We must go on growing. We must continually learn. It is a divinely given mandate that we go on adding to our knowledge.

When health is absent, wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot manifest, strength cannot fight, wealth becomes useless, and intelligence cannot be applied.

Conduct
Let me conduct myself and my life in such a way that I will have no reason to reproach myself for making a bad situation worse. This, at least is within my power: "to make it better."

Fear
Fractals
We're beginning to see that our real struggle is with fear. So we try to stay away from people who spread fear, stay out of rooms that are filled with fear and avoid the media that promotes fear.

Lessons
We receive our lessons individually packaged, custom made, slightly different from the next person's. We can't compare how we're doing with another person. Life is not a competition.

Patience and Compassion
One moment ... [we are] full of life; the next moment ... [we are] gone. [Knowing] this helped me realize that each and every moment is precious. Life is both priceless and unpredictable; I don't know how long it will last. I don't want to waste a minute of it on self-pity, worry, guilt, resentment, anger, or any character defect that may stand in the way of becoming the kind of person I want to be. I don't want to leave, or be left with, a long trail of regrets. I want to have as many good memories as possible. Compassion can help me create those memories. Patience can help me create compassion.

Stand Up
Not our Amaryllis
The problem with most of us is that we are afraid to stand up for what we believe, to be witnesses for what is true and right. We want to do the right thing, but we are troubled by fears. So we sit back, and the world drifts about us, and society increasingly adopts attitudes and standards of behavior of which most of us do not approve.
(Gordon B. Hinckley, Stand A Little Taller, 28 June)

Melva has two amaryllis blooming in the north basement window. She bought these plants several years ago. One is wine colored and has two blooms and the other is red-orange and has four blooms. They are spectacular.
