I Can Do It

Because a thing seems difficult for you, do not think it is impossible for anyone to accomplish.  But whatever is possible for another, believe you too, are capable of it. (Marcus Aurelius in One Day At A Time In Al-Anon, 24 April) 30 April 2012

Have A Good Day

... the day is going to be precisely what it is regardless of how you label it.

Stop believing that there are such things as bad days.  Don't kid yourself.  Days just are.

Are You On Track?

Is being busy all the time your way of avoiding what you might learn in the quiet places? (Karen Casey, Keepers Of The Wisdom, 26 March)

Being on the right track has very little value if you are standing still. (after Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, Pulling Your Own Strings, p. 224)

Earthly Possessions

Earthly possessions dazzle our eyes and delude us into thinking that they can provide security and freedom from anxiety. (Dietrich Bonhoeffer, The Cost Of Discipleship, p. 197) 27 April 2012

Cloud Computing

It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little.  Do what you can. (Sydney Smith in Touchstones, 9 April)

******
I'm interested in Cloud Computing.  I've signed up for accounts on:
  • Google Drive
  • SkyDrive
  • Box.net
  • Minus
  • Dropbox
  • Amazon Cloud
I created YouTube playlists for a number of the Cloud Computing applications.

Here's one more link to a playlist about Windows 7 Backup.

Google Drive

Everything that exists in the world, does so independent of your opinion about it. (Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, Pulling Your Own Strings, p. 183)

******

On 24 April 2012 Google Drive cloud storage was released by Google.  Each account is given 5Gb of cloud storage.  The Google Drive replaces the application I was using which was called, Google Docs.

Today I'm posting links to YouTube videos and Internet articles which provide information and opinions about the new application.

Ostentation

The Fate Of All Mankind

"Knowledge is a deadly friend when no one sets the rules.  The fate of all mankind I see is in the hands of fools." (Peter Sinfield, lyrics sung by the rockband, King Crimson from the book, The End Of Reason by Ravi Zacharias, p. 116)

Reality Check

People who are constantly cursing reality doom themselves to lives of needless anger and frustration.  They are apt to victimize themselves ... (Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, Pulling Your Own Strings, p. 186) 21 April 2012

Where Am I?

If you hang onto the idea that you cannot help what you think and feel, and that these are ways you have been programmed, then you are just plain stuck where you are right now. (Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, Pulling Your Own Strings, p. 201) 20 April 2012

Change

Judgments And Reality

If you conduct your life according to the belief that judgments and reality are the same thing, you are in for a warehouse full of self-imposed woes. (Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, Pulling Your Own Strings, p. 185) 18 April 2012

Allegiance

Many people have been sent off to die in stupid wars because it was "the right thing to do," even though both sides end up shaking their heads when the whole thing is over.  People often believe that allegiance to a country, a team, a school, or whatever, is always right, and that having a contrary opinion is definitely wrong. Reading And Writing Program

I follow my daily reading and writing program for instruction and emotional support I cannot find elsewhere.  I know I need not accept everything I read, but  the thinking process it engenders will set me on the right path. (after One Day At A Time In Al-Anon, 6 April)

Do you understand what you are reading? ... How can you, unless someone guides you? (The Upper Room Disciplines - 2003, 14 May)

There are things in the world I want to change, and I'm going to work on them.  Those things I can't change, and which I dislike, I will stop expecting to be different, since my expectations will always end up being disconfirmed, and therefore upset me. (Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, Pulling Your Own Strings, p. 186)

Consider what you'd like to do, and then let God decide how and if it needs to be done. (Karen Casey, Keepers Of The Wisdom, 29 March)

Everyday Justice

... one of the prime bases of our legal system seems to be to discourage most people from seeking "everyday justice" by making it seldom worth its price. (Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, Pulling Your Own Strings, p. 219) 14 April 2012

... there is a great deal of carelessness, even with careful people, in regard to their thoughts. (Hannah Whitall Smith in A Gentle Spirit, 25 January)

I have learned

  • silence from the talkative;
  • tolerance from the intolerant and
  • kindness from the unkind.

I should not be ungrateful to those teachers.

Monday Thoughts

(Photo: Mr. Dickie - Train Station at Frostburg, MD)

If you are what you do, then when you don't, you aren't. (Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, Pulling Your Own Strings, p. 151)

How often do you silently do a task simply because it has to be done? (after Penney Schwab in Daily Guideposts - 2011, 28 March)

I'll seek out a good conversation today.  If no one is handy, I'll read a book and look up all the words I'm not familiar with. (Karen Casey, Keepers Of The Wisdom, 24 January)

Easter Sunday

(Photo: Mr. Dickie - Emmitsburg, MD)

I have never for one instant seen clearly within myself.  How then would you have me judge the deeds of others. (Maurice Maeterlink in Touchstones, 26 February)

The sympton of the anger-sickness is an uncontrollable impulse to judge and condem someone else. (One Day At A Time In Al-Anon, 9 March)

Doing something that we feel good about never loses its importance to our lives. (Karen Casey, Keepers Of The Wisdom, 28 January)

... a careless person who abandons his course is tempted in many ways. (Thomas 'A Kempis, The Imitation Of Christ, Book 1, Chapter 13, p. 42)

No work is of value without preparation.  Every spiritual work must have behind it much spiritual preparation. (Twenty-Four Hours A Day, 28 February)

I will try to be more objective and not take personally everything that is said and done. (One Day At A Time In Al-Anon, 20 February)

I'll take stock of how I really want to spend this day.  I can keep it as simple and quiet as fits my need. (Karen Casey, Keepers Of The Wisdom, 12 January)

Consequences

(Photo: Mr. Dickie - dogs next door)

... most of what happens in a day is of little lasting consequence. (Karen Casey, Keepers Of The Wisdom, 14 March)

A long life does not always improve us; in fact, it often adds to our problems! (Thomas 'A Kempis, The Imitation Of Christ, Book 1, Chapter 23, p. 55)

If you had an extended illness or recovery from surgery or have grieved the loss of someone close to you, you know something about the isolating impact of illness and grief. (The Upper Room Disciplines - 2008, 7 June)

Anxiety, it seems, is the raw material of guilt.  At the very least, anxiety is a standard companion to good behavior. (Ratey and Johnson, Shadow Syndromes, p. 281)

We look at our fellow men too much from the standpoint of our own prejudices. (Elizabeth Prentiss in A Gentle Spirit, 1 April)

You always have options.  In every situation, you can chose how you are going to deal with it and how you are going to feel about it. (Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, Pulling Your Own Strings, p. 208)

[Blows or trauma to the head are never trivial.] Inside the brain, a car crash today keeps right on happening tomorrow and the day after; it is a terrifying process to contemplate. (Ratey and Johnson, Shadow Syndromes, p. 344)

... trouble comes to pass, not to stay. (Iyanla Vanzant, Until Today! 31 January)

... the easiest way to get what you want is to help others get what they want.  This principle works equally well for individuals, corporations, societies, and nations. (Deepak Chopra, The Seven Spiritual Laws, p., 31)

Many of us grew up in families with an addicted parent. (Touchstones, 6 January)

It is not a sign of loving someone to withhold information you think will distrub them. (Iyanla Vanzant, Until Today! 16 February)

If the best man's faults were written on his forehead, it would make him pull his hat over his eyes. (Gaelic Proverb, in Touchstones, 8 February)

"Mediocrity finds safety in standardization." (Frederick Crane in Pulling Your Own Strings by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, p. 77)

Gangs are classic examples of mass cowardice. (Craig Nakken, Finding Your Moral Compass, p. 115)

World Economy

(Melva with her latest quilt)

Currently the economy is bad in many countries, which forces people to work extra hours to make ends meet.  Why does it surprise us to realize that stress, depression, heart problems, and burnout now characterize people in our world? (The Upper Room Disciplines - 2003, 20 July) 5 April 2012

Movement Is Progress

(Melva's Orchid - photo Mr. Dickie)

You only live once, so why should you live at the mercy of man-made institutions?  Obviously you shouldn't, and you won't any longer when you decide to stop being a victim? (Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, Pulling Your Own Strings, p. 181)

... the first step to amendment is to realize that something has gone wrong. (William Barclay, The Revelation Of John, Vol. 1, p. 65)

Even small movement is progress. (Touchstones, 4 March)

Live each day as well as you can, for yourself and everyone you encounter. (One Day At A Time In Al-Anon, 1 April)

[You have] ... a choice:
to ruminate about all the

  • would haves

or to be thankful for the things that were.
